20+ Teams Perform in 4 Tournaments

5 Champions and 6 Finalists

Over 20 Teams In Weekend Tourney Action

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SEATTLE (August 8, 2010) -- Seattle United  teams participated in four tournaments over this weekend: Rainier Challenge (Tacoma), the Starfire Xtreme Cup, the Federal Way Blast (Boys Segment) and the Strawberry Classic (Marysville).

Seattle United had five teams earn championship honors this weekend:

  • West G96 Blue (Starfire Xtreme Cup)
  • South B99 Blue (Starfire Xtreme Cup)
  • South G95 Blue (Starfire Xtreme Cup)
  • NE B98 Blue (Federal Way Blast)
  • West B97 Blue (Federal Way Blast)

Six teams took Second Place honors:

  • G94 Copa (Rainer Challenge)
  • Shoreline G95 Blue Ice (Strawberry Classic)
  • NE B97 Blue (Starfire Xtreme Cup)
  • NE G97 Blue (Starfire Xtreme Cup, Lost in shootout)
  • West B98 White (Starfire Xtreme Cup)
  • Shoreline G98 Blue (Strawberry Classic)

At the Rainer Challenge, the G94 Copa and G95 Copa both competed against premier teams from around the region.  The G94 Copa were finalists in their Copa bracket.

The Starfire Xtreme Cup found the following teams competing: NE B97 Blue; West B98 White; West B99 White; West B99 Black; South B99 Blue; NE B99 White; South G95 Blue; West G94 Blue; South G97 White (Lightning); and NE G97 Blue.  The NE B97 Blue were finalists in their age group, The West B98 White were also finalists. The South B99 Blue were champions in the BU11 bracket.  The NE G97 Blue squad made it to the finals, only to lose in a shootout.  The West G96 Blue were GU14 champions.  The South G95 Blue made it to the finals where they were crowned champions through penalty kicks (2nd consecutive tounament championship for the ladies!).

At the Federal Way Blast, the following teams competed in the boys weekend of this tournament: West B99 Blue; South B98 Blue; NE B98 Blue; West B97 Blue; NE B96 Blue.  The NE B98 Blue won their bracket and went on to take the championship with a convincing 5-1 (2nd consecutive tournament championship for the boys!). The West B97 Blue finished second in their bracket but won their championship.

FInally, the Strawberry Classic played host to the following club teams: NE G99 White; Shoreline G98 Blue (Extreme); Shoreline G95 Blue Ice; and West G95 Blue.  Both Shoreline teams, G95 Blue Ice and G98 Blue (Extreme) were finalists in the tournament, receiving runner-up honors.
