Alex Chursky -- Founding Club Coach

Alex Chursky

Born in Burnaby, Canada, Alex Chursky has over 20 years of experience at competitive youth, collegiate and national levels as a player and coach. Alex serves as a Staff Coach for Seattle United, where he will be a Zone Director for boys ages U10 to U14.

Alex coached Seattle United’s B94 Tango, B99 Tango, and B99 South Blue in the clubs inaugural season in 2010/2011, leading B99 Tango to the Div 1 Challenge Cup Quarter-Final.

Alex was on the Seattle University Men’s Soccer staff as the graduate assistant from 2007 to 2009 while completing his Master’s Degree in Sport Administration. During this time, Alex also led Highline Premier B94 Blue to the Quarter-Finals of the Washington State Championships as head coach.

During his time as forward for Seattle University, Alex played a crucial role in the school’s NCAA Division II National Championship in 2004, starting every game for the Redhawks in an undefeated 22-0-1 season. Alex scored 32 goals and had 24 assists in 63 starting appearances, and finished in the top 5 for all-time goals, assists, and points in school history.

Chosen as the Greater Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2003, Alex also equaled a conference record with a streak of 10 consecutive games where he scored or assisted a goal in the 2004 season. He was inducted into the Seattle University Hall of Fame in 2010.

While playing for Decatur High School, Alex led the team in back-to-back State Championships in 2001 and 2002, with the school going undefeated in both seasons. Alex finished as the school’s all-time leading goal-scorer with 67 goals, and was named 2002 Boy’s National High School Player of the Year by studentsports.com as well as a McDonald’s All-American.

Before completing his high school season in Spring 2002, Alex earned a call-up to the U20 Canadian National Team and joined the squad for a training camp in Duisburg, Germany, where he played in an international friendly against the U20 German National Team.

Alex continued on with the Canadian U20’s and would score a game-winning goal for them in a 2-1 win over the U20 United States National Team in Houston, TX, before joining the squad for Youth World Cup Qualifying in Charleston, VA. Alex also travelled to Guadalajara, Mexico, with the Canadian U20 and Canadian U23 Olympic Teams.

During his youth club career, Alex won three consecutive State Championships with Federal Way United Storm from 1998 to 2000, and made it to the Far-West Regional Semi-Final in 1999, as well as the Quarter-Finals in 1998 and 2000.

In recent years, Alex played striker for Seattle Wolves FC in the USL-PDL in 2009, where he helped the organization to its first appearance in the national playoffs after scoring a hat-trick against U23 Portland Timbers in a 3-2 divisional playoff victory.

Alex will be the head coach of B00 Copa team and the B94 Tango team for the 2011/2012 season.
