Miranda Armstrong -- Founding Club Coach

Miranda Armstrong

Miranda brings a wealth of experience to Seattle United.  She has playing experience up to the professional level and over a decade of coaching at the collegiate level.

She played soccer from her youth up through collegiate and onto professional levels.  Miranda played at Oak Harbor High School where she was team captain, All-Wesco, and an All-Area selection.  She played soccer, basketball and softball all 4 years.  Armstrong played P1 youth club soccer and was twice selected the Washington ODP District team as well as being selected to the ODP State team.

During college, she played 3 seasons with the Seattle Unviersity Redhawks where Armstrong ranks in the top 10 for career assists and was the recipient for the 1997 Inspirational Award. She also competed in basketball for one season for the Redhawks.  Armstrong played five years of  professional soccer playing experience, 4 years as a member of the Hibernian Saints women's team and one year with the Seattle Sounders Women's team of the Women's USL (United Soccer League).

As a coach, Armstrong has a combined 11 years as both a head and an assistant coach, with 10 years of coaching at the collegiate level.  She began her coaching career at Seattle Community College (SCC) where she helped start the women's soccer program, serving as an assistant coach for two seasons before assuming head coaching duties at SCC for one year. She then joined Upper Iowa University (Division II) as an assistant coach.  The following year Armstrong was named the head coach of the women's soccer program at Shenandoah University (Division III).   During her 4 years with Shenandoah, she led the team to 3 straight appearances in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament and her teams accumulated 18 All-Conference honors. 

Armstrong then served as volunteer assistant coach with the Florida State University women's program (Division I) for a year during which the team advanced to the NCCA finals.  After that, Miranda returned to join the University of Washington women's soccer program staff.  SHe is entering her third season as an assistant with the Husky Women's Soccer staff.  She has assisted UW Coach/U-17 National Team Coach Amy Griffin with goalkeeper coaching.

Armstrong has 2 years premier youth soccer coaching experience with the NW Nationals Soccer Club where she has served as a head coach and a club goalkeeper trainer. 

Miranda received her Bachelor's degree from Seattle University and her Masters' degree in Business Administration from Upper Iowa University.  Armstrong holds a USSF National "C" Coaching License and both a Goalkeeper and Regional Licenses through the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
