Lisa Blume brings a wealth of experience as both a player and coach to Seattle United. She was a pioneer in soccer in Seattle. She played on the first ever girls team out of LVR, and the inaugural female team at Seattle Preparatory. In her senior year at Prep Lisa was Captain of the team and guided them to their first Metro League Championship.
Lisa’s love and passion for the game continued into adulthood. Lisa played for two local semi pro women’s teams. The first, FC Seattle Rain, was coached by legendary player and coach Jimmy Gabriel. Lisa also played under the tutelage of Clive Charles, former US National and University of Portland coach, for The Cozars. Lisa spent several seasons playing for FC Everett, which was coached by original Sounder Pepe Fernandez.
Throughout her career, Lisa has played with and against some of women’ssoccer’s most iconic players, including Michelle Akers and Brandi Chastain. Lisa’s love of the game and desire to play professionally took her abroad to Italy. There Lisa played for the Seria A team Guillano, thus becoming the first American female to play professional soccer in Italy.
Lisa’s coaching resume is as extensive as her playing experience. She has coached all levels of soccer, from young children to collegiate. Lisa spent two years each coaching at Seattle Preparatory and Blanchet High Schools in Seattle. She was a volunteer assistant to Jan Smisek at Seattle University for one year. Lisa was both coach and Director of summer camps for FC Seattle. For the past eleven years Lisa has coached girls regional select teams out of South Seattle. Here again Lisa was a pioneer in soccer by developing a regional ( neighborhood) based select team that received excellent coaching and played at a highly competitive level. Lisa guided her first girls select team, The Southside Comets, up through the ranks of District and Inter-District to Premier. At the U 18 level the Comets were one of the top twenty teams in the State.
Lisa has a Bachelor’s Of Arts Degree from Seattle University and a Masters’ in Behavioral Sciences from Seattle Pacific University. Lisa is a lifelong educator. In addition to coaching she is teacher, former school counselor and certified Child’sMental Health Specialist in the State of Washington.
Lisa holds a USSF National "D" coaching license.
