Jake Gillen joins Seattle United with over 20+ years of playing experience from youth to collegiate levels and over 7 years of coaching experience.
He comes from HPFC where he has been coaching at the Washington Youth Premier level for the past 5+ years; where he led 2 teams to the state semifinals. Prior to HPFC, he coached at Bridlemile Soccer Club in Portland, OR for 2 years and served as an assistant coach to Cascade College in Portland, OR for a year. He has also worked with the Cor Van da Meer Soccer Camps and Concordia University Soccer Camps.
Jake played his youth soccer for teams in both Alaska and Washington; serving as integral part of several club state championship teams in both states. He was a four year letterman and won consecutive high school state championships. In his junior year his team won the Alaska 4A High School State Championship (Chugiak High School), capping it with honors as the AK State Tournament MVP, AK High School Gatorade Player of the Year Award and 1st Team All State Honors. As a senior he helped lead Ferris High School in Spokane to the WA Boys 4A State Championship.
His collegiate career began at Spokane Falls Community College where he led the team in scoring in his sophomore year. He later transferred to Concordia University where he played out his junior and senior years while earning his degree.
Jake holds a BA in Business with a background in Health & Fitness Sports Management. He is a USSF National “B” licensed coach. He is also a certified personal trainer with the American College of Sports Medicine.
