Best Coaching Memory:
In the championship game, after a grueling and hot weekend of games at a tournament in Oregon with my U17 girls team, I made the point of emphasizing the need to sacrifice in this game, “give everything you have and then some more for yourself and for the players around.” By halftime my captain was having a hell if a game, leading by example, extreme work rate on both ends of the ends of field and keeping the in the game. In the second half with about 10 minutes left in the game she looks over to me super exhausted and says “I have nothing more to give.” I subbed her out gave her a big high five and thanked her for all she gave. Then 4 minutes later she comes over on the side line and asks to go back in to help the team get win. She went back in and we won the game in pks.
