The final whistle has blown across all age groups, and champions have lifted their silverware in both the State Cup and Presidents Cup. For 71 Seattle United teams, the end-of-season state competition was a stage to showcase the culmination of a year’s worth of development, teamwork, and dedication. And showcase it they did, with 11 champions, and 12 finalists. In total, one-third of all participating Seattle United teams earned the honor of competing in a Championship game. A commendable achievement, with teams fighting through deep brackets and several knockout stages to advance.
A huge congratulations to all our medal winners listed below, and to every player who displayed their skill, passion, and commitment on the pitch.
We had too many coaches in action on Championship Sunday to highlight them all—but here’s what a couple had to say about their team’s tournament run.
“I was blown away by the grit this group displayed and the way they competed in both games this weekend. They battled back from behind in both games, went through overtime in both games, and still found a way to come out on top. I was so impressed at the team’s determination and the way they worked for one another every minute!” - Coach Ed Moore, G09 Tango pictured above.
"It took some time for the boys to get into a rhythm this season. Around the new year they started to show their capabilities and they continued that through to this final. I feel like they really switched on in the knockout stages. It was great to see them have greater control over these games. Overall the boys never gave up, even under heavy adversity during our regular season. I'm proud to see it pay off for them." - Coach Jon Erickson, B16 Tango
With State competition over, we turn our attention to Regional competitions. Teams are gearing up for the ECNL playoffs, ECRL playoffs, Far West Regional Championships, and the Far West Presidents Cup. Good luck to all!
